Tis the season...

...for political correctness run amok.
I love this time of year. The air is crisp, the smell of fireplaces fills the night sky usually only with the company of stars. Even the breeze carries the promise of warmer climates to come...and all the while the liberal wing nuts abound.
Yup, it's that time of year when-more than ever-some people are just convinced that the Constitution gives them some secret right to NOT be offended. Everyone wants everything, and we're not just talking gifts either. Some want only Christian symbols for Christmas, some are opposed to holidays made up for political reasons (Kwanza comes to mind) and still others say that certain holiday symbols shouldn't "mix" (the manger and the Hanuka symbols for example). It gets better; this is the time when more people file lawsuits and charge others with discrimination than almost any other time of the year.
I've always got to sit back and laugh when all these well meaning zealots go off and just ruin what they represent by sticking their nose in EVERYONE'S business. It's just so funny that we have come to the point where everything has to be so...complicated.
Remember being a kid and saying "Merry Christmas" to people without giving a single thought to anything but what that phrase was supposed to convey? Me too...people these days need to loosen up. No wonder we can't come together as a country. Some people are ALWAYS looking for ways to divide people and segregate THEMSELVES from society, just so they can cry wolf and say they're being "outcast".
This country needs an enema, real bad. I just hope it doesn't come delivered in a dirty bomb or another 9/11 before people learn to relax again.
Personally, I will walk up to a person wearing a jewish star around their neck and say "Merry Christmas" before I say "Happy Holidays" any day. To hell with political correctness. That person is more than likely going to respond with "Happy Hanuka" and you know what? No one will die as a result of it. No hidden psyche will be dented, no one will die from "emotional distress" and no one will spontaneously combust from the "offense" they'll suffer.

so have fun people, and loosen the hell up will ya?
